This month’s H.O.P.E. Spotlight is on Shelli Hale, H.O.P.E.’s pediatric orthotics and spinal bracing specialist.

Shelli is an ABC-certified prosthetist-orthotist with more than 20 years of patient care experience who joined H.O.P.E. in February 2009.


Q & A with Shelli


You are the pediatric orthotics and spinal bracing specialist at H.O.P.E. What is your motivation and passion within this specialized field?

It is my passion to be involved with the Orthopedic and Neurological development of children. There are so many opportunities to influence positive changes in children that will have a lifelong impact. I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to be part of making a difference. I also enjoy spinal bracing as I believe that when done correctly, this improves outcomes from injury and surgery.

Is this considered rare to be specialized in this within the Kansas City area? Is there a strong need for this expertise?

There is a strong need for this expertise in the Kansas City area. People should have access to the best quality of care possible.

How have you made a difference in your patients’ lives?

I believe that in caring for people you can always make a difference in peoples’ lives. Education and experience coupled with truly caring for people goes a long way in improving the quality of life, for my patients and myself.

Why H.O.P.E.? What will your patients experience vs. going to anywhere else?

When patients come to H.O.P.E. they can expect to be treated with integrity and respect. They can be assured that they will be receiving the best Orthotic and Prosthetic care available.

What do you enjoy doing in Kansas City? How do you like to spend your free time?

I really like Kansas City. There is so much to do here. I play tennis regularly and get out to as many local events as I can.
